Subject: **time sensitive** CONDO & Community Council meeting

We have been working with Josh Matlow a great deal over the past week. Considering the inconvenient & nonspecific timing for the Community Council meeting tomorrow, we have good news. Tomorrow's particular Council meeting is NOT critical for our cause- therefore, if tomorrow is difficult for you, there is no pressing need to attend. Subsequent meetings are much, much more important. For those that would still like to attend, the Community Council meeting tomorrow begins at 9:30am & early indications are that our issue won't be tabled until 2pm or 3pm.  But note, this timing is influx, and our issue may be tabled much earlier than currently anticipated. We will post further timing information to our website tomorrow; as soon as we receive it.  Please see below for some comments from Josh Matlow on the next steps following tomorrow's meeting:

"Dear Cottingham area residents, Tomorrow at community council, I will move to begin the formal consultation process regarding 281-289 Avenue Road. This process will involve a local community meeting where we will hear directly from the proponent about their proposed development and an opportunity for you to attend, make comments or ask questions. Both planning staff and I will be there and will ensure that a meeting notice be delivered to every homeowner and tenant in the area. Please be there if you're able to. This phase will also involve the forming of technical reports including traffic and shadow studies. If there's information that you believe is important to help the decision-making process along, always feel welcome to ask for it. Meanwhile, we are continuing to work towards a proposal that will not impose more burden onto our already busy local streets, will not injure private and public trees, not shadow over neighbouring homes and will better fit into the fabric and character of our community. Next step will be planning staff coming back to community council with their report (date pending but we'll let you know, and your attendance would be helpful to show support for our community). You can also make a deputation to councillors if you choose to. Then, community council's recommendations go to city council and then the ultimate vote. Any decision of council can be appealed to (the dreaded) Ontario Municipal Board by either party. Thank you to all of you for your remarkable advocacy!

Sincerely,

Josh

Taking Action to Improve Toronto’s Response to Major Snow Incidents

Toronto is a winter City. Over this past week, Torontonians endured extreme weather and heavy snowfalls with areas in our city receiving up to 50cm of accumulated snow. When it snows, our sidewalks need to be safe and accessible. The TTC needs to be operational, and our city needs to work.

Under the previous two mayors (Ford and Tory), I was successful in advocating for the expansion of sidewalk snow clearing for every Toronto neighborhood. However, I could not convince them to prioritize extreme weather responses. I wont stop pushing until this is done, and done properly.

Focusing on Real Solutions to Toronto's Traffic Gridlock

Every day, too many Torontonians find themselves stuck in traffic gridlock, this is unacceptable. While there are many reasons for this, such as a lack of much-needed transit expansion over generations, along with the continuing need to provide people with more options to get around. I am actively calling for change. Far too many of our city's curb lanes are occupied for 2 or 3 years at a time for construction staging. I don't believe this is acceptable and I am calling for change.

Please read this thoughtful Toronto Star story about this priority.
